Dear IDEA School Community,

After 12 wonderful years of learning, growth, and connection, it is with heavy and grateful hearts that we share that IDEA School is closing.

For over a decade, IDEA has been a place where children have been honored as capable, curious, and full of potential. Together, we have built a community rooted in strong relationships, meaningful experiences in the natural world, and a commitment to nurturing the whole child. We have watched children grow not only academically, but as thoughtful, creative, and compassionate human beings. That spirit will always live on.

As this chapter comes to a close, we truly believe it is not an ending but a continuation. The IDEA family will stretch outward into the extended community, carrying forward the values, experiences, and meaningful work that have defined our school. The impact of these past 12 years will continue through every student, family, and educator who has been part of this journey.

Thank you for being such an important part of our IDEA School community.

It has been an honor to learn and grow alongside you.

With deep gratitude,

The IDEA School Board of Directors, Collaborators and Staff

The IDEA School provides a child-centered education that nurtures competence, creativity, collaboration, and compassion through work that is meaningful to students and promotes lifelong learning.  Our vision is simple: IDEA School students grow to take charge of their learning, and therefore their lives, both in and out of the classroom.

We are an independent, non-profit K-5 school founded by parents and overseen by a nonprofit Board of Directors.

IDEA School students are encouraged every day to practice curiosity, creativity, responsibility, self-advocacy, critical thinking and kindness so that they graduate with resiliency, independence, a passion for learning, and a highly developed sense of empathy.

Our multi-disciplinary educators lead students through daily explorations in topics related to social studies, math, art, language arts, science and more, while encouraging and supporting independent learning and projects.

We have a diverse student body from across Tucson, with more than half our students qualifying for Free or Reduced Lunch. We are committed to 100% inclusion, belonging and accessibility. We make it work financially for every family, regardless of income. See our Flex Tuition page for details. If you feel this is the right school for your child, we want to talk!
